Horse Power

Although, I’ve always had a love and respect for the beauty and spirit of horses, my inspiration to paint them in their glorious movement and grace didn’t come to me until approximately 2014. ‘Horse power’ became an obsession as I watched horses running freely with their manes flowing in the wind. Horses have now found their way abstractly into my paintings as a never ending inspiration.

Evocative Journeys

A common question about my artwork is “when did you start painting abstracts?” From the minute I picked up a paintbrush, I was expressing my artwork abstractly. I’m intrigued with different textures, not only within nature, but also with found objects such as rusted metal, beehives and whatever if find that intrigues me. Varied landscapes, the movement of water and clouds are often my inspirations. I absorb my natural surroundings and my memories and experiences visually find their way onto my canvas in never ending expressions.

Aspens In Their Glory

I’ve lived in Colorado’s majestic nature since 1976. Aspen trees are a part of my everyday walks, hikes and outdoor experiences. My eyes always focus on their tall slender and stoic tree-trunks that seem to tell a story, with not only their markings, but within their family of underground root connections. As I paint their ‘reach for the sky’ tree trunks, I think of how the ‘eyes’ on their trunks got there, the changing color of their leaves in spring, summer and autumn, and their nakedness in winter …that holds beauty in itself.
